Britain is where the industrial revolution began. It took place in 18th to 19th century it began in the late 1700s in Britain. Most of the manufacturing was done at home or at small rural shops with hand tools. The demand for british goods increased a lot and merchants needed more effective methods which made a rise of merchants also factories. In the 1700s, a bunch of innovations made more products which made less work for people.
Some of the machines that were made was the spinning jenny which made yarn and it was invented by an englishman named James Hargreaves. Another invention was the power loom which weaved clothes. In the 18th century an englishman named Abraham Darby discovered a cheaper and easier way to make cast iron using coke fueled furnace. The iron industry played a centural role in the industrial revolution. A british engineer named Henry Bessemer made the first inexpensive process to make steel. Steel and iron became materials needed to make things like ships, machines, buildings, tools and also infrastructure. Thomas Newcomen (Englishman) made the first good steam engine it was used to pump water out of mines. Communication became a whole lot easier during the revolution with inventions like the telegraph (which is were you can send and receive messages over a long distances like a email).

Children were also apart of labor and worked long hard hours and had high risk jobs such as cleaning the machines. In 1860, 1/5 of workers were kids, younger than the age of 15. A bunch of crafts people were replaced by machines due to industrialization. Later in the 19th century working class conditions became better.
